Our Story

Built on hose water, grit, and chaos.

Hey! I’m Jamie — founder of Tuck & Char Co., mama of two, ex-PE teacher, and former lifeguard who still believes the best days are spent barefoot with a board under your feet.

I grew up on the water — surfed, skated, wake-surfed, you name it. I was a total tomboy who felt at home outdoors and even more alive chasing adrenaline. I met my husband while lifeguarding the beaches (naturally) and started teaching Physical Education full-time — because what else would a board-obsessed wild child grow up to do?

Then 2021 hit. My district required the Covid vaccine — I followed my conscience, said no, and was put on unpaid leave. Just like that, my teaching career ended. It was rough, but I believe in standing tall for what you believe in — always.

Thankfully, I’d kept my real estate license active and found my next chapter with Redfin. While postpartum with our second baby in 2023, I told my husband I wanted to start something of our own. He probably thought I meant “someday.” I meant now. Haha.

What started with one hat sale on Etsy has exploded into something wild — and rad — that I never could’ve predicted. Tuck & Char Co. is now a full-blown family business designing small-batch surf, skate, and outdoor-inspired gear for kids who play hard and parents who still chase the stoke.

And here’s the big news:
I’ve officially quit my 9-5 job.  I went from juggling 3 full-time jobs — mom, Redfin sales, and business owner — down to 2.

I’m getting closer every day to living the dream: working fully for myself and being home with my wild crew.
